Why would I like to live in the City of Santa Ana?
Santa Ana is a large city and there are some very nice places to live. There is an area of older historic homes in an area called Floral Park which has been beautifully maintained and the homes in the area are charming and nostalgic. Most of the streets are tree lined and add to the charm of the area. Prices for these homes run in the $600,000 to $1,000,000. If you like older, charming homes, then Floral Park may be for you. This area is located over by Memory Lane and Bristol in Santa Ana .
In other parts of Santa Ana, most of the homes are approximately 1500 square feet and sell in the neighborhood of $400,000 to $500,000. They are older neighborhoods, but well maintained.
Santa Ana has its share of Parks which are maintained by the Recreation and Community Services Agency. There are 17 recreation buildings, 5 swimming pools, 41 parks, and 11 bicycle trails within the city. The City has a park on Fruit and Cabrillo streets called Cabrillo Park with 9 tennis courts that are well maintained and managed by the city.
The city tries to provide quality programs and services that inspire fun, fitness, active living, arts, culture and exploration of the natural world. The Bowers Museum is well known for its arts and culture and is very valuable to the City.
Santa Ana has its civic center and it is where the courthouse is located as well as the County Government and main library. Santa Ana is the most populous city in Orange County and the 55th most populous city in the U.S. Population was estimated in 2009 to be 340,338. The city was founded in 1869. One hundred years ago, a scrappy little town of about 4,900 people fought off its Anaheim neighbors to become the seat of government of the newly formed county of Orange.
It was 1889, and area residents, dissatisfied with the quality of public services provided by Los Angeles County, had just voted to form their own county.
After some heavy lobbying in Sacramento, Santa Ana won the county-seat designation and became the area’s political power base. It was an impressive victory for a city that began in 1869 as little more than an isolated mustard field in the middle of nowhere.
After World War II Santa Ana experienced a boom in growth as industry grew up and created many jobs and many new people settled here.
Santa Ana has aggressively pursued redevelopment, luring major hotels, retailers and industry. One of the more visible results is the Main Place shopping center downtown. The mall, which opened in 1987, has created 2,000 jobs and added considerably to the city’s revenue.
